Coracle fishing at periyar river
They came from Tamil Nadu, the neighbouring state of Kerala, and lived in tents…
They did fishing in the river periyar, which is passing through our city Kochi and the neighbouring villages.
They sold fish to us, at a lower rate than in the local markets and the super markets, still we negotiated with them for further discounts. I feel that we are getting opportunistic there by negotiating with the very poor in the society, because we are unable to negotiate with the rich and powerful.
Among them, the women were always more enterprising and hardworking than men..
